Lewis Hamilton says he understands and abides by the rule of slowing down for yellow flags but that "you have to do that without losing any time."
The Brit and his team-mate Jenson Button, who finished second and third in the Spanish GP, are both under investigation by the stewards for failing to slow down when Heikki Kovalainen crashed, bringing out the yellow flags.
"I understand that a few of us are under investigation. The racing was incredible today," Hamilton said.
"We all abide by the rules, and we slow down for the yellow flags, but you have to do that without losing any time."
Button, though, admits he's a bit perplexed by the situation as just because it appeared as if they were going fast judging by their times for that lap it doesn't mean they didn't slow down.
"It was the first time I've heard of anyone called up for not slowing down under yellows in a race," Button added.
"If you see an incident and you lift and you take avoiding action you still might go faster because you are going faster in the other sectors.
"We'll see what they say."
Mark Webber, who finished fourth, and Jaime Alguersuari are also being investigated.
