Monaco barrier to be moved

Monaco barrier to be moved

The barrier that Sergio Perez collided with during qualifying for last weekend's Monaco GP will be moved back for future races according to reports.

Respected journalist Adam Cooper has reported on his blog that barrier after the chicane will be moved back by 20 meters to allow for a greater run-off area.

At present there is a crane behind the barrier and while the Automobile Club de Monaco is said to be unhappy with the idea of moving the crane, they have been convinced that it will not be a problem because should an accident occur there it would necessitate the use of a safety car or bring out the red flag.

The barrier has already been moved back from its original position after incidents involving Karl Wendlinger and Jenson Button in previous years.
