Jense: Nice being back near the front

Although he missed out on a front row grid slot, Jenson Button is happy to be at the start end of the grid for the Hungarian qualifying.

The McLaren driver has struggled in recent Saturday afternoons, falling short of his team-mate Lewis Hamilton in qualifying.

And although he was once again behind Hamilton in Budapest, the Brit qualified his MP4-26 in third place, just 0.046s short of Hamilton's lap time.

More importantly, though, it's the first time since Monaco in May that Button is on the second row or higher.

"Yeah, I'm pretty happy with that," he said.

"You always think after a lap there's a little bit (of time) here, a little bit there, but to be fair it was a pretty good lap and I'm happy to be up in third.

"That's been my issue of late and it makes it very difficult in the race to make up the times."

He added: "We made some good set-up tweaks overnight, and the car felt pretty good this morning and we played with a bit through qualifying and came good on the last run.

"We gained half a second on the previous lap by getting more front end on the car."

Button is now hoping to turn his grid slot into a fight for the victory as he gears up for his 200th grand prix start.

"It's nice to be positioned well and hopefully we can have a good fight."
