Alonso to crank up the pressure

Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull better beware as Fernando Alonso has vowed that Ferrari will keep their aggressive approach for the remaining races of the season.

Alonso showed there is still plenty of life left in the battle for the Drivers' Championship when he came from P3 on the grid to claim his and Ferrari's first win of the season. The Spaniard's victory was not only a welcome sight for the Tifosi, but also for many non-Red Bull fans who feared Vettel would run away with the title.

The 29-year-old Alonso says Ferrari plan to adopt an aggressive strategy from here on in as they want to keep the pressure on Vettel and Red Bull.

"From now on it will always be the same thing, every race we will try to do like a final," the double World Champion said.

"My Championship hopes are very difficult because Sebastian keeps finishing all of the races first or second, so the only thing we can do is try to win every race we go to. We need to be very aggressive, every race, every start and every strategy will be at the maximum."

Ferrari had the fastest car on Sunday, but Alonso will be the first to admit that lady luck smiled on him a little after a slow second pit stop from Vettel allowed him to claim P1.

"It's difficult to know, I saw the problem in the pit-stop with Sebastian and we were in the lead in that moment," Alonso said when asked if his pressure forced a mistake from Vettel and Red Bull.

"I didn't know because I was also fighting with (Lewis) Hamilton and Mark (Webber), then I left the pits and found myself in the lead and pulling a gap.

"The race was obviously in very different conditions, we started with the very wet parts on the circuit and then it was a little bit dry, but we still thought intermediate tyres. The intermediates were struggling a little bit and we were very quick in that part of the race, then we did dry tyres.

"It was the same thing again, very slow in the beginning when the track was damp and very quick when the track was dry. I knew we need to be calm, keep the car on the track always and make no mistakes. With no mistakes I knew that the car had enough pace to fight for the victory, in the end it came."
