Pastor Maldonado believes his Williams team can bounce back from last year's disaster and design a car capable of scoring points for this season.
The Venezuelan, who made his debut with the Grove-based outfit in 2011, scored just one point while his team-mate Rubens Barrichello bagged just four in what proved to be Williams' worst season ever.
Despite his lack of points, the team opted to retain Maldonado for a further season with the driver confident that it will be a vast improvement on last year's campaign.
"I trust the team that the car we have made will be much more competitive than we had last season," AS quoted him as having said.
Maldonado added that his debut season was "very complicated, especially for a rookie" but that he enjoyed "every metre on each of the tracks.
"It was a unique experience, a very important experience in my sporting life and I believe also in all of the sporting life of Venezuela."
