Button to debut new McLaren

Jenson Button will have the honour of being the first to drive the new 2012 McLaren when it takes to the Jerez circuit on 7 February.

McLaren are scheduled to launch their new MP4-27 car at their Woking factory on 1st February where both drivers will be on hand to answer questions, take the customary snap shots and put forward their predictions.

However, only one driver can put in the very first lap with the new car and this year that driver will be Button.

McLaren have confirmed that the Brit will be in action on the first two days of the Jerez test before handing over to team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

The second pre-season test, which kicks off at the Barcelona circuit on 21 February, will see Hamilton take the wheel on the first two days with Button wrapping up.
